Ever since he can remember, Pat was mesmerized by live bands. His early musical influences were his Aunt Marg, who played the piano, his Grandpa Jack, who loved to listen to big bands, and his father Lou, who once borrowed a ukulele and serenaded Pat and two of his siblings when they were very young. Pat found a guitar under the family Christmas tree in 1971, and began taking lessons at Wurlitzer. After high school, Pat made it a point to see as many successful bands as he could afford. At college, Pat sang and played guitar and in a band called 'Lynes' from 1980 to 1982, mostly at college parties. Unlike Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Pat decided to retain his last name! :)

Sarah attended The School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, where she learned to sing and act. She has a beautiful voice, and is incredibly moving when she sings. Her early musical influences were Joni Mitchell, Godspell, and Heart.

Sarah met Pat in March of 1982 when she listened to a 'Lynes' rehearsal. They were drawn together by their mutual love for music.

Pat and Sarah have been playing music together since 1984. Their first band, called 'The Urge,' played punk rock music in Colorado in 1984. Later that year, 'The Urge' won the battle of the bands at The Blue Note jazz club in Boulder, CO.

In 1996, Pat and Sarah released their first CD called 'Thy Word.' It includes 13 original songs that were written between 1986 and 1996. One of the most popular songs, 'Come To Me,' was included on 'Volume 1' of the 'Digital Side of the Moon' compilation CD series in 1998. Pat and Sarah formed a band called 'pat & sarah,' and performed their songs at various coffeehouses, barrooms, and outdoor events.

In 2001, the 'pat & sarah' band released their first EP entitled 'True Love.' This disc includes a tasty remake of 'Somebody To Love' by Jefferson Airplane, a crowd favorite. The words to the title cut were written by Sarah.

In 2005, Pat and Sarah formed a new band called 'Catalysis.' This band features Leon Droby on bass, Art Drummond on keyboards, trumpet, sax, and flute, and Carl Santos on drums, acoustic guitar, and vocals. This group has become even more eclectic with the addition of more jazz songs, Irish songs, and several '60s and '80s remakes.

In 2006, Pat and Sarah released their second CD called 'The Way Home.' The music for this CD had been completed four years earlier. The song selection is an eclectic mix of rock, Latin pop, folk, and jazz. This CD features guest drummers Don 'Smitty' Smith, Anthony Spero, and Dave Price, Manny DeMelo on piano, and Tony Ricci on lead guitar for two of the tracks.

Catalysis released their first CD entitled 'Good Chemistry' in March of 2013. The song choices consist of a mix of originals, traditionals, and remakes. The majority of the tracks are live recordings.
